Someone called me “Mr. Gazette” today, in reference to the fact that I’m in the Texarkana Gazette so much. I didn’t even realize that I would be in the newspaper today. I’m realizing how much we’re starting to live in the “public image.” People all over town, and some out-of-town, are telling us the great things they are hearing about The Kingdom Church. Perfect strangers are yelling and waving at us across the parking lots of grocery stores and post offices, just to say “hi.” Plus, We received such an overwhelming response in the world of social media, for our 10 year anniversary, from people talking about what a great example we are.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the love, but I just didn’t realize so many people were watching. My wife has been warning me, “Be careful on ‘TwitBook Press’, because you don’t want to misrepresent yourself and have your good evil spoken of.”
Much like Rockwell, and MJ, she was right. People are watching me. I really don’t know what people are thinking or saying about me, Team Murphy, or TKC, but public image is hardly ever completely accurate. The physical, mental, and spiritual things I deal with privately may not be reflected in my reputation. While my rep may not be totally right, it is still worth protecting.
So, as I approach year number 32 on this planet, my goal is to shorten the gap between my public image and my private self. In other words, walk the talk! Because I know someone is always watching.
