Whether or not you believe in the significance of numbers, you have to admit that today is at least interesting. A day, a month, and a year having the same double-digit only happens 12 times every 100 years. So, every year since January 1, 2001, we have all been fascinated with this phenomenon.
Some people believe that 11 is a lucky number. According to this school of thought, there is a positive cosmic energy produces good fortune in the midst of two perfect 1’s. For example, you will never lose if you roll an 11 in craps. For this reason, there will be a lot of weddings and lottery tickets sold today.
On the flip side, if you were to look at biblical numerology, 11 is a number of chaos. There are, between 1 and 12, only two numbers that are positioned between two divine numbers, 6 & 11*. Wouldn’t you know it, we have 6 ones when we group three 11’s! Look at it like this, Jacob had 11 sons (before Benjamin), which speaks to the chaotic nature of Joseph’s relationship with his other brothers (Genesis 37).
Well, here we are on 11/11/11. Where do you stand? Are you gleefully anxious, or gloomily afraid? Where ever you are on the issue, let me just remind you … God is in control. He is able to do whatever He wants to do, and everything He does is for a purpose. Read Jeremiah 29:(you guessed it!) 11 for some encouragement.
