Be A Muse

(I was going to do this differently, but I’m going to go this route.)

Being in a relationship with the same woman for almost 16 years has taught me at least one thing: people are imperfect. There is no one on God’s green earth that doesn’t need improving in some way. We all have flaws, but these flaws are magnified in relationships (especially in marriage).

Conflict and problems arise when we try to change our significant others to better suit us, but as I’ve said before, when you wage war on other people’s shortcomings, you risk exposing your own. So I have a suggestion on getting a partner that best suits you.

(Are you ready?)

Be a muse.

(Yep, that’s it!)

Muses, in greek mythology, were the nine goddess of inspiration; so what I’m saying to you is that you have to inspire you mate to change. AssumIng you are both adults, there is little to nothing you can make him or her do, therefore change must be inspired. Sooooo, the $100,000,000 question is: how?

By consistently finding and being the best you!

You can’t possibly expect your mate to change if you don’t. You have to make sure you are operating at your best, not only for them, but for yourself first. In relationships, as with anything else, happiness comes from within, and not from them. So if there is something wrong, fix it in you first; and if your partner loves you like they should, this will inspire them to do the same.

Jesus teaches in Luke 6:41-42, “Why do you look at the speck in (someone else’s) eye, but pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How can you say to (someone else), ‘Please … let me take that speck out of your eye,’ yet cannot even see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you (may) be able to see clearly to take the speck out of (someone else’s) eye.”

So instead of fussing, cussing, or nagging … let the inspiration begin!
