First Impressions

Have you ever met someone and your first impressions of them were less than favorable? It is quite possible that you just happen to catch that person on a bad day or in a bad circumstance. Or worst yet, you derive at a bad perception of a person without even meeting them, all based on the testimony of someone else. In our culture, we have to always be on guard, because we always have to make a good first impression.

imagesCAXQHW2DSo here we are, just a few days into this new year … what are your first impressions? Many were blessed to bring in this new year with a bang, living it up, and being on top.  However, for some, this year has started off all wrong. Some of us have already dealt with difficulties, heartbreak and hard times in this new year. So let me encourage you. You shouldn’t judge this season in your life simply based on where you are right now.

God reminds us thaimagesCATMAB4It He is “the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:13, NASB)

Therefore, if He is all that, no wonder He spoke these words through the prophet … “From the very beginning (I AM, GOD IS) telling you what the ending will be, all along letting you in on what is going to happen, assuring you, ‘I’m in this for the long haul, I’ll do exactly what I set out to do’.” (Isaiah 46:10, The Message Bible)

Don’t trip out. No matter what you beginning looks like, God has not lost sight of your ending. Neither should you. Just because it seems like your losing now, it doesn’t mean you’ve lost. Whatever your first impressions are right now, rest in the fact that God’s got your back!

  1. This post is right on time as I just lost my mother on New Year’s Eve. I’m experiencing so many emotions right now, too many to put into words. My two older sisters and I are dealing with disagreements with our step-dad as he will not allow us or our grandmother into the home he shared with our mother, the home that became a hospital room that hosted us and other family members as visitors, and the home where our mother took her last breath.

I never imagined starting 2014 out this way, but I know God reached down here and took our mother home for a reason. I pray for open hearts for everyone involved, cool heads, selflessness, understanding, direction, no more drama, and above all things that our mother be laid to rest with the dignity she truly deserves.

    1. Praise God for your testimony and your faith! I thank God this post was an encouragment to you, and I am praying for you and you family in this trying time. God is yet faithful!
