Today is World HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and I have seen a lot of talk about protecting yourself. To be sure, you can’t live in this world and not be fully aware of this dreadful disease and its sociological effects. We can never expect to conquer HIV/AIDS without being responsible.

However, at the risk of sounding preachy, “protection” isn’t your best option in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS. (more…)

Whether or not you believe in the significance of numbers, you have to admit that today is at least interesting. A day, a month, and a year having the same double-digit only happens 12 times every 100 years. So, every year since January 1, 2001, we have all been fascinated with this phenomenon. (more…)

I am all about building people. One thing that I have learned, is that a side effect of teaching others about God and the good news of Jesus is self exposure. I have learned a lot about myself in the past few weeks. Things that I’m not proud of, but are real and present in my life. These things are discovered when you get to know how God loves and relates to us. So being the pastor/teacher that I am, I want to share some Biblical truths about relationships. (more…)

You get up after hitting the snooze button 3 times (because everyone needs that extra 21 minutes to wake up, LOL), slip on the house shoes and a coat to get your morning paper.  While stirring your mandatory cup of coffee, you turn to the horoscopes; only to find out that you are not a Libra anymore!

That’s right! If you haven’t heard by now, astrological signs are about a month off.  Due to a wobble in the earth’s axis, according to astrologers, the sun is now in a different constellation that points in another direction. This shift has totally disrupted the charts. To add insult to stupidity, there is a 13th sign added, Ophiuchus. This “new” constellation is represented by a man wrestling a snake. So once again I say, WHAT THE DEVIL?!

For centuries people have made major, life altering decisions based on the charting of the stars, and how these heavenly bodies align themselves. My question is, how long have the stars been out of sync? When did anyone discover the change? And most of all, who decided that these changes had to be made? (I know that was 3 questions, but you get my point!)

I believe that the moral of this story is … wait for it … we can’t trust the things of this world. If God is real, and He is, he has given you a very clear blueprint for your life, everyday: Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know.  Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, Today’s English Version).

I hear you asking : How can I trust God? How can I be sure? And the answer is simply to use the same faith you put in the stars. At least with Him there is a plan. Listen to what he says in Jeremiah  29:11-14 :

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  (New International Version)

So know that in HIM, your future is great, because no matter what your sign is, the “SON” is never out of place!
